Sinus massage

If you are feeling congested and stuffy after getting over a cold/virus or maybe from environmental factors, sometimes gentle massage through the face can alleviate the discomfort.

Massage to help facilitate sinus drainage is relaxing and focused to points where the sinus cavities exist in your skull. We can’t actually feel these cavities but we work with acupressure points and follow lymphatic drainage directions to help relieve the pressure and pain of mucus congestion. The heat from our fingers (and maybe a warm heat pack under the neck) can also be beneficial.

Massage will not “fix” the problem and usually it offers temporary relief rather than long-lasting. That’s why it’s a really great thing to learn to do for yourself. This way you can regularly massage, eg., setting aside 5-10 minutes daily for sinus massage and symptom relief, or simply incorporating a few quick acupressure points and glides into your day as often as needed.

A massage therapist can do some massage for around the sinuses, face and any tension around the scalp/face and neck muscles to assist you too. If you aren’t feeling sure about how to self-massage or if you’d just like to relax and let someone else help, then coming in to see a therapist initially is a good idea.

Welcome to our new physio Sandy. Sandy was born in New Zealand and moved back and forth from Hong Kong growing up. After high school she returned to New Zealand to complete a bachelors of physical education, before venturing over the ditch to the beautiful Gold Coast, to complete her postgraduate degree in physiotherapy.

She has had exposure to both the private practice as well as the community aged care sector. Sandy enjoys seeing a variety of musculoskeletal presentations and appreciates the importance of understanding everyone’s unique experience in guiding them to their personal goals.

When Sandy is not at work she is dancing with her dance crew, at the gym or the beach.

Our Exercise Physiologist Hannah has always had a love for health and fitness, studying Exercise and Sport Sciences while working as a personal trainer and group instructor. After finishing her studies, she ventured to London to work as a personal trainer for 2 years through this experience she found her passion for Women’s Health which inspired her to go back to university and complete her Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology.

The gratitude Hannah gains through connecting with people and helping them to achieve their personal health and fitness goals is why she became an Exercise Physiologist. She believes it’s important to feel good from the inside out. Hannah believes in providing her clients with an environment where they feel comfortable and supported.

Hannah enjoys educating her clients on the benefits of exercise and seeing her clients push beyond what they thought they were capable of. Hannah is passionate about understanding her client’s conditions and needs in order to have a positive influence on their overall health and wellbeing.

Meet Mel, our dedicated Remedial Therapist, bringing a healing touch to our Burleigh Heads and Broadbeach clinic locations. Mel completed her Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy at the Southern School of Natural Therapies in 2014 and remains an active member of Massage and Myotherapy Australia.

With over a decade of clinical expertise, Mel has worked alongside physiotherapists, podiatrists, and dieticians in allied health clinics across Melbourne. Her experience includes serving as a sports trainer and massage therapist for various professional athletes in VFL, volleyball, and soccer teams.

Specialising in deep tissue, sports, trigger point therapy, myofascial cupping, dry needling, pregnancy, and relaxation massage, Mel incorporates stretching techniques and personalised exercises to aid in recovery and prevent soft tissue injuries.
